Trinidad and Tobago Red Steel
The Trinidad & Tobago Red Steel is a franchise cricket team of the Caribbean Premier League located in Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago. It was one of the original six teams created for the inaugural season of the tournament. The owners of Indian Premier League side Kolkata Knight Riders purchased a stake in Caribbean Premier League franchise Trinidad & Tobago Red Steel from the season 2015 onwards. It is the first instance of an IPL franchise investing in an overseas Twenty20 league. Venky Mysore, the CEO of the KKR indicated that the TT Red Steel was the best place for them to invest based on the perspective of crowds, sponsorship opportunities, rich cricketing traditions and the talent base. He further stated that "Forty percent of the population in Trinidad & Tobago is of Indian origin. There is a very strong connect of those people to Bollywood," Mysore said. "And they are all extremely big Shah Rukh fans.
